Ferro Mosae at the Mescherbergrun
Just like many other FM members I participated in the Mescherbergrun today, and it was going to be my first. It must have been the warmest 20th December since human recordings and the hundreds of participants were mostly dressed in just shorts and a t-shirt.
At 2 pm the starting signal blasted and we were on our way. The massive crowd ran for 15,6km through muddy fields, beautiful foresttrails, tiny towns and over many, many hills. There are probably some nice pictures taken along the way where I’m in mid-fall when sliding away on a muddy descent (note to self: trailshoes might be a good investment in the future). And let’s not forget about those 180 steps that left us all profusely sweating, gasping for air and maybe contemplating why we were doing this in the first place. By the time I finished my faster FM counterparts were probably already having their 3rd drink, but I was still okay with my 1:32 finish time (hey, it’s the hills’ fault! Come on guys, how can you all be so fast!). I heard that Sophie even made it to second place with an astonishing time of 1:09.
All in all it was a great experience; I would recommend participating to anyone! And now excuse me while I’m off to bed, dreaming of being as fast as Sophie.
